BACKGROUND OF THE SENIOR CITIZENS JOURNEY TO THE MOTHERLAND.

The senior Citizens from the various third world countries, some of them come to the United States of America in their old age. Some have passed the retirement age, some them came as Refugees running away from civil crises in their home countries. Leaving behind their family, but more especially the feeling of things that are sentiment or things they have bond to for many years. Example, their culture, villages, towns, songs, farmland, the river were they use get drinking water, their friends and relatives. Some of these things are spiritual connection from their villages and towns. Spiritual transformation has been assessed as a driving force in the rebuilding of lives of the devastated in the community.

 

It was based upon this assessment, that the Throne of Grace Ministries (TOGIM), decided to organized trip for the senior citizens to make a trip back home to visit their native land and relatives. TOGIM strives to bring together senior citizens with the effort of helping them to reconnect to their motherland. Working within the philosophy of the ministry, the organization will continue to keep the torch of the senior citizens burning throughout their days.

OBJECTIVES

The aim and objective of Senior Citizens Journey to the Motherland, is to connect them to the motherland and to meet and see their grand children, great grand children, family and immediate relatives.

 

There will be frequent travelling overseas every year, the aim to uplift their souls and spirit as they meet with their family, relatives and friends of old. This ministry is geared toward giving senior citizens both men and women, capacity to reunite with their place of birth. Even though they may find themselves in different geographical locations, but the senior citizens remain connected and committed in to their countries and continent of Africa. One of objectives is to show them that the church as an organization for senior citizens, that is we are creating such a program, the journey to the Motherland. Moreover, it is to give helping hands to family who have caring for the grand parents or old age parents but don’t have enough funds to send them to the motherland for vacations. We want to fill that gap for them.

DURATION

The desire of the team of the Senior Citizens Journey to the Motherland (SCJM), is timeless. As long as the Lord tarries and we have the strength to work by means of pursuing our goals and objectives, through to meet the needs of our Senior Citizens. The Trip will last for two or three weeks. Excluding the days of traveling.

 

COST ESTIMATE

The cost estimate of this work is time, talent and treasure. The program shall be divided into three categories: 1. Locate & International, (Air Fair) 2. Health Component, and 3. Feeding and Lodging. In the event of these plans, we would certainly design strategies on how to organize and develop or discuss the next plans of action in the implementation of the projects. The budget will include air fair, locate transportation, feeding, lodging and medical logistics.

PURPOSE OF THIS MISSION:

It is to make our senior citizens to know that we have not forgotten about them. That are we still caring and here for them as long as they lived. The Senior Citizens Journey to the motherland will be two or three weeks trip. This will enable to see their relatives and the native land where grew up, and some of them fled because of civil crises, and ever since they have been able to return or to visit their families and relatives. They are unable make a trip back to their native land because of financial condition.

AN APPEAL FOR SUPPORT AND PARTNERSHIP

There are growing needs among the senior citizens. As Christians and people of the global village, we need to play our part in helping those senior citizens.  They have made their contribution to humanity it is about time that we appreciate them by giving our time and service to them. Isolation, most of our senior citizens are isolated in their children’s house that is the equivalent to starvation is, nearly, in every home where ground parents have to sit and just watch TV.  Only few the Senior citizens are able to take care for themselves. Most of them just cannot make it; they are compelled to either sleep, stay in their room, in order to live.  Also, there is a need for some sort of program/training for the senior citizens, tell their stores that are deported in their minds from their passed.
